Plastics have made current life possible as we know it, however, the incorrect final disposal and its difficult degradation, have produced an accumulation of this material in landfills and in the oceans, causing a global environmental problem and a great challenge in the search for solutions.
From this need arose the development of biodegradable and compostable plastics, which present an alternative for various applications, since at the end of its useful life, this plastic biodegrades and returns to the earth through composting, significantly reducing its environmental impact.
At Colarquim we constantly research, adapting to current market needs in order to provide tailored solutions. This is how our new Bio-Masterbatch line emerged as a tailor-made color proposal for biodegradable and compostable plastics.
Its formulation complies with the EN 13432 and is free of heavy metals and toxic components. On the other hand, among its main attributes is that, in addition to being bio-based (made from renewable sources such as corn and yucca starch), biodegradable and compostable (home composting), it’s compatible with most compostable resins, including PLA, PHA / PHB, PBS PBAT, among others, without compromising properties or biodegradability.
As a conclusion is important to mention that its application is suitable for different processes: film extrusion, injection blow molding and thermoforming.
